Midori Farm Corral — Crowdfunding

A curated home for independent crowdfunding projects connected to the Learning Center

What Is the Midori Farm Corral?

The Midori Farm Corral is a curated collection of independent crowdfunding projects connected to the Midori Farm Kyoto Learning Center.

Projects in the Corral are created and run by individual artists, interns, volunteers, educators, and collaborators whose work is connected to farming, sustainability, education, and creative storytelling.

The Corral brings related projects together in one place, helping supporters discover and follow work connected to the Learning Center.

How Crowdfunding Works:

Crowdfunding campaigns associated with the Midori Farm Corral are hosted on established platforms such as Kickstarter, Campfire, etc.

Each campaign:

  • raises funds directly for that creator’s project

  • uses the creator’s own crowdfunding account

  • is created and managed by the individual project creator

Midori Farm Kyoto Learning Center does not collect, manage, or distribute crowdfunding funds.

Where the Money Goes:

All funds raised through crowdfunding:

  • go directly to the project creator

  • are subject only to standard platform and payment processing fees

Funds may be used by creators as:

  • personal creative income

  • support for learning or project development

  • participation-related costs such as travel or living expenses

Financial responsibility, fulfillment, and communication with backers remain with the project creator.

Crowdfunding and Program Fees:

Crowdfunding is separate from participation in on-site or structured programs at the farm.

Participants who take part in on-site or structured programs may be asked to contribute program fees to help cover:

  • accommodation

  • utilities

  • shared tools and software

  • printing or production setup

  • travel and other operational costs

These program fees are discussed separately and are not paid through crowdfunding platforms.

Some participants take part remotely only and may not incur any program or residency fees.

Who Can Use the Corral:

The Midori Farm Corral may be used by:

  • artists and creators working on picture books or related projects

  • interns or volunteers fundraising to support learning opportunities

  • educators or collaborators working on aligned projects

Use of the Corral name requires prior approval from Midori Farm Kyoto Learning Center.

Use of the Midori Farm Corral Name:

Approved projects must include the following sentence in their campaign description:

“This project is part of the Midori Farm Corral, a curated group of creative and educational projects supported by Midori Farm Kyoto Learning Center.”

Approval to use the Midori Farm Corral name may be withdrawn if guidelines are not followed.

Creative Rights & Responsibility:

Creators retain ownership of their original work unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Midori Farm Kyoto Learning Center:

  • does not guarantee crowdfunding success

  • does not act as a publisher or financial intermediary for campaigns

  • does not assume responsibility for campaign delivery or outcomes

The Corral exists to provide visibility, connection, and context, not management.
