DIGITAL PARTICIPATION
Contributing, learning, and creating—no matter where you are
About Digital Participation
The Digital Participation program at the Midori Farm Kyoto Learning Center allows individuals to contribute to projects connected to the farm without being physically on-site.
This option is designed for people who want to participate remotely in creative, educational, or support roles while remaining connected to the work, values, and community of the Learning Center.
Digital participation may also complement on-site programs as part of a hybrid experience.
Who This Program Is For
Digital participation is well suited to:
-
artists and creators working remotely
-
interns or volunteers unable to travel
-
students or educators seeking project-based experience
-
collaborators supporting sustainability or education initiatives
-
individuals contributing alongside work, study, or family commitments
Participants may be based in Japan or internationally.
What Digital Participants Do
Activities vary by project and interest, but may include:
-
contributing to children’s picture book projects (illustration, writing, editing, research)
-
supporting documentation, basic media creation, or website and outreach work
-
assisting with content development, translation, or educational materials
-
supporting sustainability, research, or community-based projects
-
collaborating with on-site artists, interns, or educators as needed
Digital roles are real and purposeful, with expectations set clearly based on experience and availability.
How Participation Works
Digital participation is:
-
remote by default
-
flexible in schedule and duration
-
discussed and structured individually
Some participants contribute independently,
while others work as part of a small project team connected to on-site programs.
Digital participants may also choose to use crowdfunding to support creative or learning-focused projects.
Details are available on the Midori Farm Corral — Crowdfunding page.
Practical Notes
Digital participation typically does not involve accommodation or living costs.
In some cases, modest program fees may apply to help cover shared tools, platforms,
or project-related costs (such as Canva or Adobe, or for production setup).
Details are discussed individually, depending on the nature of participation.
Learning Center Connection
Digital Participation is part of the broader Midori Farm Kyoto Learning Center, alongside:
Digital participants may collaborate with on-site programs and contribute to work that extends beyond the farm.
