Large Groups & School Visits
Shared experiences through farming, food, nature, and community
About Large Group Programs
Midori Farm Kyoto offers experiential programs for large groups, including schools, families, adult groups, and community organizations.
Programs are rooted in farming, food, nature, and shared experience, and are designed to be flexible rather than fixed. Instead of following a strict schedule, visits are shaped around the interests, age, and goals of each group, as well as the season and weather.
Groups are welcomed to slow down, participate, and experience life in the countryside together.
Core Experiences
Most large group visits include a combination of:
-
Farming activities such as planting, harvesting, and garden work
-
Cooking together, using seasonal ingredients
-
Eating together as a group, sharing meals in a relaxed setting
-
Outdoor exploration, including nearby mountains, fields, and rivers
-
Time for reflection, conversation, and informal learning
These shared experiences form the heart of the program and can be adapted for children, families, or adults.
Optional Activities & Extensions
Depending on group interest, timing, and logistics, visits may also include optional activities such as:
-
Visiting a local farmers market
-
Waterfall hikes or extended mountain walks
-
River exploration and nature play
-
Arts and crafts inspired by nature and farm life
-
Visits to a traditional kayabuki (thatched-roof) village
-

-
Overnight stays, including camping or simple accommodations
-
Visits to a mountain onsen
-
Ropes course or outdoor challenge activities
Not all activities are included in every visit. Options are discussed and selected based on group needs and feasibility.

For groups seeking deeper engagement, overnight or multi-day programs can be arranged.
These may include:
-
evening meals and campfire activities
-
overnight stays in tents or nearby accommodations
